Getting There - Heading North Oct. 2010

Getting There>Heading North Oct.2010

O. K. this is a catch up & a memory stretching activity for me. Keep that in mind if this narrative does not flow as smoothly as some. Beginning in October about the 8th our north bound travels began. Paul & his wife Danielle had planned a 2 week Tip to Thailand to visit her father. He and Danielle would leave Grace with Mark and Crystal in Logan and pick her up on the return trip home. Our part was to be the visiting delivery system in addition to Kent spending a few days at a Waste Water Training Conf. in Logan. The four tallest passengers enjoyed visiting on the Way to Logan when we weren’t laughing at Grace’s reactions to the videos she watched on the way. She quickly picked up on our enchantment in her sweet little laugh and it seemed when our responses to it deemed her laughter volume increased. Oh yes, it was a jolly good time. I even noticed a time or two when a laugh had nothing to do with the story. But if Grace wants to laugh, she does. And she really seems to enjoy just laughing. Either that; or she likes our responses to her laugher. Hearing Grace’s laugh is like honey for your ears, sweet pure delight; gentle & good from sparkling giggles to grand gaffas it fills my heart each time it tickles my ears. Occasionally she did not have a laugh to match the action completely and she simply giggled. “That’s so funny.”
That was her parents’ fun farewell with Grace. Kent took the eager yet dread filled parents to SLC 2 days later to leave for Thailand. When Danielle kissed Grace goodbye she was so tired I don’t think it really clicked under her little smashed curls that she would not see mom in the morning. In the morning it clicked. Ever so slowly, with each gathering of bodies for meals & outings Grace scanned the room and just before the final cog clicked Aunt Chrissie would sense the gathering clouds and announce; time to eat, let’s go outside, where’s Sally? It’s Time for school. Who wants a cookie? Who needs to go potty? I am going for a walk, who has shoes on? These pleasant little thought interruptions happened all through the day. The days were always a flurry of movement; Please and Thank yous, and the occasional time out. All in all this love filled home also overflowed with distractions. I have no doubt Grace was missing ma-ma, da-da. She had her droopy lonely moments when no one could comfort her. Had she never been uncomfortable her entire visit I doubt her pining would have surfaced much at all.

Do You have the binky?

Surface it did. Sunday we took her with us to Pocatello for Tyron’s Wedding. Getting there was not bad. She loved running around the open area with PaPa where the wedding & reception were held. She was getting tired and we had hopes of a quiet sleeping girl for our return. Nope. We did not heed the toddlers’ rule of the road. “Don’t forget the binky!”

411 Update 9-9-2010

Just shows that life never stops and time moves on w/o ya.
Well, a quick update on mom, (Ida Marianne) & her state of affairs. She is still in the state and admits to nothing. She and Nadine Shakespeare(a nanny we/she hired to keep an eye on her) are pretty good buds now. Mom is now 15 months passed open heart by pass & patch. She really is doing quite well. What she needs most now is a little down shifting. It can be hard to tell who is the boss some days since technically Nadine works for mom. But Nadine's job includes asking/telling mom things she should and should not do. On several different days in the past weeks I went to a water aerobics 'pool party' with the Zipper-chested twins. (Nadine had open heart slice, pass & patch a few years before mom)
The remainder of this 411 will be more random than sequential. So be prepared to be confused and welcome to "Kim's cognitive conundrum. I don't really intend to direct the topics, but do more of a free flowing pecking order. Whatever strikes my fancy. Similar to the way Seinfeld was all about nothing. I see this blog becoming all about anything. At any moment.
Also, with my left hand impacted by my M.S. leaving it weak and inaccurate I am not going to stress over typos. Sorry English teachers and friends. In this venue I am just not going to stress over it. My energy is as precious to me as my time. And I'd rather do my free flow write uninterrupted than take time to spl chk and; delete. If that is not acceptable let me know what pieces you would like me to edit for publication and I'll be happy to consider it. Or you can click your way to a more polished blog.

Mom's (Marianne's) Heart surgery

6-15-09 F.Y.I. family & friends. Mom, Marianne Wootton began having trouble breathing. She called me,and I met her in emergency. That was last Monday,June 8th. They cleared her lungs and began tests. It was known she had one weak valve. Tests showed further deterioration to that valve and weakening of another. There were also a number of vessels feeding the heart with blockages of 70& 75%. It was decided to complete clearing her lungs of fluid and then operate. Today6-15-09 at 7:00a.m. the surgery began and was completed by 1:10ish. Right now she is stable in recovery. When ready they will remove the respirator, sit her up in bed and eventually sit her in a chair. Barring any problem she will then be moved to a reg. hospital room where she is expected to stay for 4, or 5 days. If you would like to send good wishes she is at Dixie Regional Medical Center St.George,Utah. All prayers are welcome as well. I trust you know that address. We expect a full if slow recovery. I will let you know when she is in her reg. hospital room.

<4-29-09 Ant Wars I know you thought you wouldn't hear from me until Sept. Surprise! I discovered that being busy is not the whole of my reason for not blogging. The more accurate answer is motivation. The events in my life seemed either too discouraging or too personal to share publicly. You do realize anyone who really wants to can read this!?"Anyone" makes it public. Well. This morning started off swell. I felt good, no headache, minor stiffness in left leg and none in my back!I was on my way to accomplish things! focused, I charged down stairs.Well, emotional anyway, 'you charge with a stiff left limp' go ahead I'll wait. O.K. I think you see my point and maybe why my world is less than efficient , if still effective. Kitchen, Yes. tackle the kitchen. Great, almost empty sink! I just love seeing the bottom of my sinks especially when not through dishwater!Things are going to be great today!...Ant!...Ant! Ant? A platoon of perfect single file sugar soldiers trooped along the front edge of my sink gathering for what I guess was mail call at the left corner! Zillions & Zillions of them.( O.K. exaggeration for effect.) There were far too many to even guesstimate and they were moving! Any whey, I had dealt with these minute troops before on this very battle field. My order in dealing with them was; Remove all traces of food. Yes General, that makes perfect sense no food in the kitchen. None at all. I am sure that is how the rest of the world keeps ants out of their kitchens!? As speedy as I am I could not stay ahead of the perscission pursuers. They poured through the corner gap like water. Only, I could swear I could hear a tiny umpff as each dropped to the sill. It sounds much like a leak in a bicycle tire, tiny but unending. Not knowing the location of our ant munitions I was left to my own devices. Soap! What can survive cleaning supplies? gooey, thick, slick, dish washing detergent. I poured it on. I washed it in. They were gone. at least until reinforcements arrived this a.m. Today, Oxyclean! Mounds of the white crystal death were heaped at the base of their supposed encampment. Now I wait.
As it turns out the general returned home and procured and applied some ant munitions so I will never know if the victory was mine or the general's. No matter. We're all fighting for the same kitchen!!! And I get to leave the food!
